The Knowledge Architecture
Scaling a Global eBook Ecosystem
As Tulip’s content library exploded, our long-form assets were suffering from a lack of visual unity. We needed an eBook system modular enough to span sectors from Pharma to Discrete Manufacturing, without looking like a collection of unrelated one-offs. The real stress test came with our expansion into EMEA, having to ensure our design held up in French and German, where longer text strings usually break standard layouts.
The Strategy
A Framework for Industrial Iteration
Instead of treating every industry report as a new project, I built a universal master template for rapid iteration. We created a flexible system that allowed us to swap out industry-specific imagery and color accents while keeping the core structural DNA locked in. This meant that whether a lead was reading about AI in Munich or lean manufacturing in Dallas, the Tulip brand experience felt identical.
Dynamic Typesetting
I implemented a typography system with flexible tracking and leading. This was crucial for accommodating those notoriously long German compound words without killing our white space or forcing awkward line breaks.
Visual Consistency
I personally oversaw the localization of our technical diagrams and callouts to make sure they remained legible and culturally relevant across all three languages.
Creative Ops
To hit our aggressive publishing deadlines, I stepped in as the creative lead for a rotating team of third-party freelancers.
The Quality Gatekeeper
I managed the entire review process from end to end. My goal was to ensure that every page produced outside our walls met our high-fidelity standards and stayed strictly within the global brand system.
The Impact
40% Faster Output
By moving to a modular template system, we increased our production speed for new industry-specific eBooks by 40%.
Zero Design Drift
We successfully launched localized assets in the DACH and France markets with perfect brand alignment.
