Industrial Scale Meets Artistic Precision

Zildjian and Vic Firth are synonymous with world-class quality, but their physical product catalogs had become difficult to manage due to their massive SKU counts and a lack of unified design standards. The goal was to take two legendary brands with their own distinct visual identities and create a streamlined, premium print experience. 

The Strategy
A Systemic Approach to Print

Acting as the bridge between digital brand guidelines and physical manufacturing, I developed a modular grid system specifically for print. This ensured that thousands of individual products were displayed with visual equality. 

I translated core brand DNA into a high-density print format. For Zildjian, I focused on metallic textures and deep blacks to highlight bronze craftsmanship.

For Vic Firth, I utilized a clean, data-heavy layout emphasizing technical specs. The result was a cohesive look that signaled a shared brand family while respecting each label's unique market position.

Technical Print & Vendor Management

Managing a global catalog lifecycle requires rigorous technical oversight. I led on-site press checks to ensure Zildjian Gold and Vic Firth Red remained consistent across various paper stocks and finishes.

As the primary contact for external vendors, I negotiated specs for binding, spot UV, and paper weights to maximize durability in retail environments. I also oversaw pre-press to ensure high-res assets translated perfectly from RGB to CMYK.

 

Streamlining the Production Pipeline

To manage high asset volumes, I established an internal workflow for rapid updates. By using linked data and master templates, I significantly reduced errors in technical specifications like weights and diameters. This optimization ensured the catalog served as a definitive source of truth" for the global sales team, maintaining accuracy across thousands of product SKUs.
